This is the fire escape where I fed the parrots for the first three years, before having to move to the cottage, which is directly below, but out of sight here. I fed them another three years at the cottage, which was the setting for the documentary film. I took this photo from my usual location at the east end of the fire escape. I held a cup filled with seeds and gave them to what I called the “hand feeders.” The others stayed on the bowl. I usually referred to them as “bowl birds.” There were many parrots who made use of both stations, depending on how crowded things were, and, I assume, their moods.
